Clark's Duncan Diary!

"I served on the DUNCAN during the Korean War. During that time we sailed over 95,000 nautical miles and had a number of interesting moments. One took place in the harbor of Wonsan when we were with the battleship USS NEW JERSEY. North Korean shore batteries hit her number two turret, killing one man, and she was out of that harbor like a shot, leaving us and the other ships behind!" [W. Clark Smith, CWO-4 Ret.]

The Duncan Mascot - "Skipper"

Image skipper1

Shown above is "Skipper," designated an ET1.
Picked up in Japan and assigned(?) to the ET shack,
this salty pooch took his job seriously. Check out the uniform,
complete with chevrons. This crusty canine
even sported his own ID and Liberty cards.
